Use interest money to pay bribes, bank charges, taxes : paying income tax by interest

السؤال

When I got married about 2 years ago, my wife had about 2000 pounds to pay as a student loan. So, I paid this loan off for my wife as I had some savings. I used the interests that I had on my savings to pay the interests of her loan then I paid the actual loan with my own money. Was that right ? Can I pay interest with interest ? Keeping in mind that I do not accept interest and I would have normally gave it away. Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your constant help
