In recent decades, generation of electricity from solar arrays has been increased to meet the world's growing energy demand.

However, the utilization rate of the power conditioner in the grid-tied solar power system is low because the operation of solar panels is dependent on sunlight.

Thus, we studied the method that the small scale wind power generating system in size from a few hundred watts to two or three kilowatts can be connected to the grid-tied power conditioner of the solar power system for residential applications with low power ratings (single phase, size is limited to 10kW) by emulating characteristic of the solar panel.

In this paper, we introduce the application of the grid-tied PV cell emulating system in the stand-alone mode to improve the utilization rate of the power conditioner.

The simulation and experimental test results verify that the PV cell emulating system can operate the power conditioner of the gridtied solar power system.
