الملخص الإنجليزي

This research aims to evaluate the pre-feasibility of grid connected PV system for Qatar Development Bank to cover its total power consumption by considering technical, economic as well as environmental aspects of project.

A proposed of 4.1 Mega Watt grid connected PV system designed and assessed as an electricity generation source for Qatar Development Bank, where the system will be locatedwithin the region with the best solar energy potential in Doha (Latitude 25.3 N & longitude 51.5 E) which has an average global solar radiation of 5.41 kWh\m2\day and a 10.46 Hours average sunshine hours, and the system was evaluated using two methods: renewable energy technology screen (RETScreen) and a computer software which is PVsystem.

Qatar development bank consists of two main buildings and the parking area, therefore the roofs of the buildings and roof of parking area can be used to install the photovoltaic modules on it,while the total area of the roofs of two buildings and parking area is 7097 square meter,only 4045 square meter can be used to install PV modules on it.

The results showed that due to the available area to install the photovoltaic system for Qatar development bank, only 2053 PV modules can be installed, those PV Modules will provide1920.35 Mega WattHour of electricity per year which is almost 39.3% of total yearly electric consumption of Qatar Development Bank, which will save almost 1547.80 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions while the simple paybackperiod of the system will be 10.61 Years.
