الملخص الإنجليزي

The infrared spectra (4000-400 cm-1) have been recorded for kaolinite from Al-mudawwara (South Jordan) region, from five different locations.

Two methods were used for preparation samples for infrared spectroscopy: KBr disk and nujol method.

Complete vibrational assignments of the basic fundamental modes for kaolinite were proposed, which were supported by the two methods used : KBr disk and nujol method .

The X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis indicated similarities in composition for all samples, with major constituents silica, SiO2 and alumina , Al2O3 , which were also supported by similarities in all spectra and the proposed assignments.

The result obtained were compared with other related studies.
