الملخص الإنجليزي

Choosing the suitable manufacturing system for the production line is the key to have a successful and profitable production system in the factory.

Flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) in production lines is one of the importance production systems nowadays, so this research concentrated on studying and explaining FMS from all aspects, also old studies were linked to this study.

The methodology of this research was based on a case study made on AL-mashaan Steel company doors and frames production lines by studying their current production line system and applying flexible manufacturing system on their production line using simulation programming by Arena software in order to compare the production rates and the conclusion was that the frames productions the quantities will increase by 60.5 %.

A questionnaire was also made and distributed for (148) persons, (39) was rejected, (36) of them was rejected because the responders has no idea what is FMS and the remaining (3) was rejected due to the randomness of the answers, and (109) responses was accepted and analyzed and the survey showed the following results, the production rate will increase by 75% and the material handling in the production line will decrease by 33.8%.

Also the quality of the products will increase by 40% giving that the production line will relay on computerized machines which will reduce the human errors that effects the quality of the products by almost 40%.

Finally FMS will help to reduce the need of workers by 22% on the production line which will reduce the hazards on the employees by 26%.
