الملخص الإنجليزي

With the development of knowledge and sciences also environmental studies developed and all related studies including pollution, environmental disasters and forecasting all processes to remove that effect .During this period the wide development deal with data collection methods about earth and environmental applications of remote sensing appears and state the suitable treatment .

In this study, different methods of remote sensing applications were used for water pollution monitoring in Tigris river .A new methods were used to save time ,efforts and staff comparing with old and classic methods. The study conducted with multistage , firstly extraction update satellite image dated (2005) for the studied area and geometric correction process using (ERDAS) package together with field data collection related with pollution sources which are affect quantity and quality in the area.

All these data were prepare as in input data in GIS media .

The second part of study deal with Tigris river including sampling collection from different locations and water quality analysis for some physical and chemical properties .In addition to that , anew software were used to classify the Tigris river by made an integration between reflectance measurements from the image and field data . Finally the study improve that the best location of water intake for water supply and industrial uses were up stream near al-jaderiah reign because of having less concentration of chloride ,sulfate and BOD5 .

The study also improves that remote sensing techniques are the best methods for saving time and cost .
