الملخص الإنجليزي

Twenty four of non-hemlytic Streptococcus were isolated from the pond of healthy carp of Marine Science centre.

The bacteria were identified depending on colonies morphology of grown isolates on Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) agar.

Colonies are small, round and convex shape .The cells of non-hemlytic Streptococcus.

are Gram positive ,and may occur in pairs or chains .Cells spherical or ovoid shape and small.

60 fish of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) had been obtained from the farm of Marine Science Center – University of Basrah .The fishes were divided into six groups(10 fishes/20 litters aquaria).

One of these groups were injected intaperitoneally (i.p) with non-hemolytic streptococcus at 4 concentration 1×10 colony forming unit /ml (CFU/ml) other two 7 groups were inoculated with 2.5 ×10 CFU/ml of non-hemolytic streptococcus via water pollution one with and other without skin abrasion .other three groups were left as control groups.

The experimental period were 35 days .the mortality rate were 100%during the first week of experimental period in i.p inoculated group while no mortality in other groups.

The most important clinical signs of intraperitoneally inoculated fishes were corneal opacity, erratic swimming, hemorrhage on the body surface especially in the base of fins while other groups did not show any signs.

Postmortem examinations revealed general pathological changes of septicemia.Hemorrhage in the peritoneum, liver, kidney, gills, intestine, heart and brain of affected fish.

The kidneys were moderately swollen, enlarged spleen, pale liver as well as inflammation around kidney, heart, and eye, hyperplasia and necrosis of gills, ascitis.

Internal examination of other groups which were inoculated by aquarium with and without skin abrasion and their control groups did not reveal any obovious postmortem changes during the experimental period.

Microscopic examination revealed edema and inflammations in brain, eye exhibit hemorrhage and inflammatory cells infiltration, thickening of the epithelial tissue and sloughing of necrotic gill tissues, degeneration and inflammation of myocytes and cardiocyte.

Hydropic and fatty degeneration in liver with congestion and hemorrhage, necrosis of hepatic cell, glomerulonephritis and depletion of hemopoitic tissue in kidney.

In conclusion C.

carpio was experimentally infected with non hemolytic Streptococcus with i.p injection but was not affected through contamination of water either with or without skin abrasion.
