A study undertaken during one year (December 2007 - December 2008) on the biology of Aonidiella aurantii on lemon tree in the Rouiba area (3°17' E/ 36°44' N) has revealed that this cochineal shows three annual generations.
The hivernation concerns primarily the fertilized adult females, seldom the larvae of the second stage.
The species seeks the least sunny spots(center of the canopy) where it finds the most favorable conditions to its development.
It shows a marked preference for the fruits.
الملخص FRE
Une étude menée pendant une année, de décembre 2007 à décembre 2008, sur la biologie de Aonidiella aurantii sur le citronnier dans la région de Rouiba (3°17' E / 36°44' N) a révélé que cette cochenille manifeste trois générations annuelles.
L’hivernation touche essentiellement les femelles adultes fécondées, rarement les larves du deuxième stade.
L’espèce recherche les endroits les moins ensoleillés (centre de l’arbre) qui lui procurent les conditions les plus favorables à son développement en présentant une préférence marquée pour les fruits.
