Neck pain is a common problem due to many causes.
We present a rare cause of cervical pain to illustrate clinical presentation of Eagle syndrome and explain its management.
A40-year-old woman, with no medical history, presented to our department forright cervical pain.
Physical examination revealed a righthard tonsillar mass.
Cervical CT scan showed a bilateral elongatedstyloid process.
The rightelongated process was resected by external surgery.
The patient was no more painful.
Eagle’s syndrome is a rare radio clinical entity characterized by an elongated styloidprocess.
Some clinical signs allow suspecting the diagnosis and avoiding a long delay for management.
The treatment is essentially surgical.
الملخص FRE
La douleur cervicale est un motif fréquent de consultation.
Elle est en rapport avec des étiologies variables.
A travers une cause rare de cervicalgie nous rappelons, la présentation clinique du syndrome d’Eagle ainsi que ses modalités de prise en charge.
Une patiente âgée de 46 ans sans antécédents particuliers a consulté pour douleur latérocervicale droite évoluant depuis quatre ans.
L’examen a trouvé une formation rectiligne et dure au niveau de la fossette tonsilaire homolatérale.
Le scanner cervical a montré un processus styloïde long des deux côtés.La patiente a été opérée par voie latérocervicale droite, avec résection du processus calcifié sur 2 cm.
Les suites opératoires étaient simples avec sédation de la douleur.Le syndrome d’Eagle est l’ensemble des symptômes en rapport avec un processus styloïde long.
Quelques éléments sémiologiques permettent de suspecter le diagnostic et éviter
