الملخص الإنجليزي
This study aimed at designing a training program for the Jordanian Aviation Sector Employees based on their needs in English.
The study aimed to answer the following questions: 1.
What are the language competencies needed for the employees in Jordanian aviation sector from their own point of view? 2.
What are the components of the designed training program that employees in Jordanian aviation sector need in relation to their English competencies? The sample of the study consisted of (365) employees in the aviation sector in Jordan randomly chosen in terms of their job position.
To collect data, the researcher designed a questionnaire that consisted of eight main parts the subjects were asked about the language skills, listening, reading, writing and speaking, and about the problems, they face in learning English, their learning preferences and the training courses they would like to take to improve their English proficiency.
The findings of the study revealed that years of experience and the type of work as well as the language of instruction were all proven to play major roles in the subjects’ language skills.
In light of the findings of the study, English language training courses are strongly recommended to be introduced to meet work requirements.
Therefore, the researcher suggested a training program that would help meet the needs of the aviation sector employees.
