Algeria, via the diversity of its ecological and environmental situations, encloses a vast genetic culture of plants.

The identification, preservation and development of this heritage is now a critical for local socio-economic improvement.

The pre-saharian regions, particularly the wilaya of Biskra (south-eastern Algeria), is eminent by its agricultural areas and its extensive arboricultural resources.

Through the last decade, the apricot tree (Prunus armeniaca L.) has experienced a notable increase owing in part to the effects of the current climatic changes, promising an expansion of the crop.

Indeed, with the amplification of phoeniculture, certain varieties of apricot have exposed very encouraging results in terms of quantitative and qualitative yields and an excellent varietal adaptation to these particular ecosystems.

This has added a substantial development to the region.
