الملخص EN
Background: End stage rénal disease (ESRD) patients on maintenance hemodialysis (HD) are strikingly vidnerahle to infection for many reasons, including the immimodepressed state intrinsic ta ESRD.
the high prevalence ofdiabetes, expos tire to other patients in the HD facility three times per week, fréquent hospitalization, and the invasiveness of the HD procédure.
Aim of the siudy: To study the surveillance of Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) and antimicrobial résistance (AMR) profdes of common pathogens causing HAIs in the Dialysis Units of Ltixor International Hospitcü.
Patients and Methods A longitudinal and cross sectioncd study was perfonned on 56 ESRD patients who received 3 sessions of HD per week every session was 4 hours in two centers for 6 months.
Follow up of vasculav access infeclion relaled to either arterio-venous fistula (AVF) or central venons catheters fCVCs) was done by follow up signs and syniptoms of infection (fever, hotness, redness, leucocytosis, lendeniess), culture and sensitivity M>as done to AVE by blood culture, tip of CVCs was cultured to confirm blood stream infection and sensitivity to antimicrobial.
Serology was done before the start of the study by ELISA to divide the patients into 23 négative for hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis B virus (HBV).
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), 33 patients were positive HCV, no patients were positive for HBV and HCV, no patients ofHIV ami we follow serology ofall patients by ELISA every 3 months.
ResuUs: At the end of study, the number of épisodes of blood streams infection related to C 'FCv was about 7 out of 7 total number ofCVCs in the study with a significantly higher rate than blood stream infection related to AVE which was 4 out of 49 AVE.
The most common organism in vascular access related infeclion either CVCs or AVE was Staph aurens, followed by Klebsiella and the least was Candida.
Conclusion: A VE is a golden standard of vascular access for ESRD on regular HD and adéquate disinfcction during dealing with AVE and manipulation of CVCs is highlv recoinmended.
