الملخص الإنجليزي

The poultry sector in Morocco covered 100% of the citizens white meat consumption needs in 2014.

This sector provides 120 000 direct jobs and 280 000 indirect jobs.

In addition to that, it has a cumulative investment of 10.4 MMAD.

These numbers shows the importance that this sector plays in the country [1].

One of the major challenges regarding poultry industry is the energy.

Poultry houses require an important quantity of energy in order to provide chicken with the appropriate environment that will make the production quick and healthy.

However, in Morocco, the common poultries found are usually traditional ones that do not respect the basic standards required for a good production.

The construction materials used increase from the heat dissipations and air change is not provided correctly to the animals.

This will consequently affect the productivity and production’s quality.

A detailed research on this topic showed that there exist many standards that need to be followed in order to have an effective production.

These standards concern the temperature, the insulation of the building, the ventilation rate and lighting needed by the animals.

Most of these are not respected in the traditional poultry houses found in Morocco.

The idea of studying the possibility of including renewable energies in the sector came from a farmer in the region of Meknes whose objective was to change its source of energy from the gas to the biomass in order to avoid serious problems such as fire.

After studying the environment and analyzing the requirements of the poultry in one hand, and doing a research about how these poultries are built and managed in different parts of the world, it was possible to dimension an ecological and economic poultry house for the region of Meknes while respecting the natural resources available in the region.

It turned out that seeking for energy efficiency and investing in the biomass energy are a very profitable project that could replace the gas used in the heating systems of poultries.

In addition to that, other technologies such as the heat recovery system or solar thermal energy could be joined with the biomass boiler in order to reduce the heat requirements and therefore, reduce the annual energy bills, however, they must benefit from a state subsidization due to their high costs
