مدى توظيف شبكة المعلومات العالمية (الإنترنت)‎ في البحث العلمي و المعوقات في ذلك : دراسة ميدانية على أعضاء هيئة التدريس بجامعة شقراء

The present study aims to identify the extent of employing the International Network (Internet) in scientific research and the obstacles in doing this, in addition to identifying the effect of sex, qualification and field of specification as main variables.

The study also aims to identify the place where the staff member prefers to stay in while using the International Network (Internet) for scientific research purpose and the time s/he spends in doing this.

To achieve this aim, the researcher conducted this study on a random sample which represents (20%) of the study population, who were the staff members of Shaqra University, KSA.

The researcher used the descriptive survey methodology in the present study.

The researcher used a questionnaire as a study tool for his study after insuring the validity and reliability of the study instrument.

The findings of the present study showed that- the degree of employing Internet in scientific research by the staff members was average.

In general it amounts to (3.16 out of 5 degrees) .

There are no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample due to sex, qualification or field of specification variables.

The most prominent obstacle encountered the staff members in doing this is the lack of published books and studies written in Arabic about the Internet, in addition to the policy adopted by some sites which specify a written reply or a number of posters.

The study concluded that about half of the study sample spend more than six hours a week using Internet at home for scientific research.

The study recommends the insurance of the basic requirements for employing Internet in scientific research in the University Colleges such as: high speed network, technicians, computers, printing tools, subscribing in International Magazines, Periodicals and Databases……etc.

The researcher suggests doing a similar study at some of the Saudi Universities so as to compare their findings with the findings of the present study.
