الملخص الإنجليزي

In this study weight of Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder is reduced by replacing the alternative materials.

So, the finite element analysis of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders made of Steel and H.S C/Al (1050) composites has been carried out.

Finite element analysis of composite cylinder subjected to internal pressure of 18 bar working pressure and 27 bar test pressures.

Layered shell element of a versatile FE analysis Solidworks has been used to model the shell with H.S C/Al (1050) composites.

Numbers of cases wereconsidered in order to study the state of stresses and deformations that occurs due to the loading pressure inside the cylinder.

First, the results of stresses and deformation for steel cylinders are compared with the analytical solution available in literature in order to validate the model and the software.

The FEA results indicate the LPG cylinder is the failed model at test pressure of 27 bar, and the results also show that the LPG cylinder shell will be subjected to a high percentage of applied stress over the yield stress indicating low service life and any defects present in the shell may definitely cause catastrophic failures, due to fail model it was impossible to consider weight saving in the existing LPG cylinder design.

The weight savings are also presented for the proposed, continuous H.S C fiber reinforced Al (1050) composites material LPG cylinders.

Variations of stresses and deformations throughout the cylinder made of steel, H.S C/Al (1050) were studied and compare safe model at the test pressure of 27 bar.

By Comparing the Maximum Von Mises Stress is high for H.S C/Al (1050); The Maximum Longitudinal Stress is high for H.S C/Al (1050), and the maximum longitudinal deformations for H.S C/Al (1050) were also high.

The maximum weight of (8 Kg) was saved in H.S C/Al (1050).

The weight of LPG cylinder can be saved enormously by using H.S C/Al (1050) composites and the stress values are also well within the limit of capability of materials.

This gives a clear justification for its use in household applications.
