Previous studies indicated that pregnant women have inadequate knowledge about obstetric danger signs during pregnancy.

In addition, data about attitudes and practices toward obstetric danger signs during pregnancy among pregnant women are limited.

Aim The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of obstetric danger signs among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics in Al-Karak Governorate/Jordan.

Methods A descriptive cross sectional design was used.

A convenience sample of 365 pregnant women who attended five antenatal clinics at AL- karak Governorate, which is in the south of Jordan, were recruited.

A self-reported questionnaire was used for data collection process.

Results The results of this study revealed that (59.1%) of the participants have an inadequate knowledge of obstetric danger signs during pregnancy.

In addition, the results showed that the participants have a positive attitude towards obstetric danger signs.

Furthermore, the results showed that (45.7%) of study sample sought medical care when they experienced obstetric danger signs during pregnancy.

Also, the most significant factors affecting the level of knowledge were: age, monthly income, and participant’s occupation, as well as history of stillbirth.

Conclusion The study’s results demonstrated that participants had an inadequate knowledge and positive attitudes toward obstetric danger signs during pregnancy.

Effective educational programs and other awareness interventions are needed to enhance the awareness regarding obstetric danger signs during pregnancy.
