الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimed at identifying optimism and pessimism as well as their relationship with the locus of control among the Handball club's players in Jordan according to the variables of (the place of residence, years of experience, playing lines), as well as identifying the style of predisposition that is considered as a characteristic for the Handball club's players in Jordan in terms of optimism and pessimism, and identifying the style of locus of control among the Handball club's players in Jordan.

The researcher used the descriptive approach due to its compatibility to the study nature.

The study sample consisted of 230 players of the Handball club's players in Jordan.

The researcher used the scale of optimism and pessimism (Schiere, Carver) which was developed by Allawi, 1998, as well as the scale of locus of control (Rotter) developed by (Jibreal ,1998).

The researcher used the means, the standard deviations, multivariant analysis, Cronbach Alpha coefficient, t-test and z-test as statistical methods.

The study results showed that there are no statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) for the relationship between optimism and pessimism with the locus of control according to the variables of (the place of residence, years of experience, playing lines), and that the Handball club's players are characterized by the optimistic tendency.

The results showed that the locus of control among the Handball club's players in Jordan is internal.

Based on the study results and objectives, the researcher recommends about the necessity of paying more attention to the psychological traits among the Handball club's players due to the positive impact of that on promoting dependence on their own abilities in interpreting their success and failure.
