Interleukin-2 and Interleukin-12 levels of type 1 diabetes mellitus patients in Thi-qar Province

The current study was conducted at the center for Diabetes and Endocrinology of the Health Directorate in Thi- Qar province, during the period from October 2013 to May 2014.

The study aimed to evaluate immune status of diabetes type I patients by measuring the levels of interleukins (IL-2, IL-12) in the serum using a technique enzyme-linked immune sorbent adsorptive (ELISA),the study included a total of 72 patients with type I diabetes they were(37 males and 35 females) and they were aged between 1-40 years.When compared with 12 apparently healthypeople as control.

The results showed a significant increase (P ≤ 0.01) in the levels of interleukins in the serum (IL-2, IL-12) of all patients with type I diabetes compared to the control group.
