A customer of an Islamic bank is a company engaged in import and supply of food and grocery items to the big outlets / supermarkets all over the country. The standard Murabahah financing structure to finance the procurement of the goods is not operationally doable, reason being the goods are supposed to be immediately supplied to the outlets without leaving enough time for the conclusion of Murabahah-related formalities, such as inspection of the goods and signing the Murabahah contract before the goods are supplied to the outlets. Therefore, an alternative Shariah compliant structure is sought which may be operationally feasible.
