الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aims at investigating the repetition of the expression Banu Israil (The People of Israel "Jacob") in the Holy Koran.

What prompted this study is the researcher's interest in repetition in general, and a desire to show the role of repetition in the Holy Koran.

Repetition in the Holy Koran is a unique and salient feature and plays a major role in binding the verses of the Holy Koran in a cohesive way.

This study tackles repetition as a linguistic phenomenon.

The study contains five chapters: chapter one introduces the problem, significance of the study, theoretical background, and hypotheses.

Chapter Two gives a review of literature which consists of both Arabic and English studies.

Chapter Three introduces the method adopted, compiling the data, data collection, and data analysis of the verses from the Holy Koran that handle the repetition of "Banu Israil".

The analysis draws its interpretation of this term from many Arabic Exegeses of the verses of the Holy Koran.

Chapter Four investigates and analyzes the linguistic phenomenon of repetition in the Holy Koran.

Chapter Five offers the conclusion and recommendation of the study.

The researcher selected the translation of Abdullah Yousef Ali of the verses from the different suras of the Holy Koran where the expression "Banu Israil" was repeated.

Findings of this study show that the repetition of "Banu Israil" in the Holy Koran is not meant to prove or show that they are the chosen people, but rather a warning to all human kind not to behave like them and to avoid their path.

The repetition of this expression expresses other meanings such as emphasis, threats, warning, and clarification.

All of these meanings can be drawn from context where the term is used.
