الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using worksheets in teaching grammar on tenth-graders in Al-Mazar directorate of education through answering the following questions: 1- Is there an effect on the achievement of tenth-grade students in grammar in Southern Al-Mazar directorate of education due to the use of worksheets as an instructional method ? 2- Is there an effect of using worksheets on the achievement of tenth-grade students in grammar in Southern Al-Mazar directorate of education due to gender? The population of the study consisted of (1295) male and female tenth grade students in Al-Mazar secondary schools during the second semester of the academic year 2012/2013.

The sample of the study consisted of (106) students who were divided randomly into experimental and control groups.

The experimental groups were taught using worksheets and the control groups were taught using the conventional method.

To accomplish the purpose of the study , students’s scores at the first semester were used as a pretest and a 25- item grammar test was adapted as a post test.

t-test was employed to find out if there was any statistically significant difference in the students ’ achievement on the post tests that can be due to the use of worksheets.

The findings of the study revealed the following: there was a statistically significant difference in the achievement of the experimental groups in grammar due to the use of using worksheets.

In addition, there was no statistically significant difference in the achievement of the experimental groups in grammar that can be due to gender In light of these findings, it is recommended that teachers can employ worksheets into their teaching and curricula and they may be equipped with supplementary worksheets designed by Jordanian specialists.
