الملخص الإنجليزي

This study examines the factors that may influence achievement of competitive advantage in the Jordanian Pharmaceutical Industry.

A test of resource advantage theory is conducted, and studied competitive advantage through two dimensions (cost advantage and product advantage), by two ensembles of the factors; the first ensemble being the resources, which consist of financial, physical, learning, and human resources, and the second one concerns the capabilities constructs by customer relationships, supplier relationships, product development, and innovativeness.

The study applied on sample of 374 employees from 18 Jordanian pharmaceutical companies and their branches.

Results of study indicate that customer relationship, innovativeness, learning, financial resource, and product development have a positive influence on the achievement of competitive advantage, but human resources, physical resources, and supplier relationships have no effect on the achievement of competitive advantage.

The findings of this research have important implications for business practitioners companies of industrial products.

Limitations of the study are considered, and future research directions are identified.
