-Différent growth conditions were conducted to optimize and study the kinetics of the phénol biodégradation by Klebsiella oxytoca cells.

The results showed that it was possible to cultivate Klebsiella oxytoca with phénol as sole carbon and energy source.

When initial cell concentration (ODeoo 0.2) the complété dégradation of phénol was achieved after 96h duration, however, as cell concentration increased the time required for the complété dégradation was decreased.

In the presence and absence of phénol, the expérimental data were fitted to différent kinetic models and found that Riccati équation was best fit these data.

However, in the presence of phénol, an inhibition effect took place to the cells and expérimental data were fitted according to Volterra model.

Based on the effect of phénol concentration on the cell number, the specific growth rate, }i, was determined experimentally by having the ratio of the différence in the cells concentration to the différences in time.

Accordingly, the expérimental data was fitted to three specific growth models {Monod, Moieser, Andrews) and found that Andrews one best fits these data adequately.

It was found that the carbon-starvation not aiways reduces the induction time of phénol dégradation of the Klebsiella oxytoca cells.

Consequently, the optimum temperature, agitation rate and pH were 37°C, 200 rpm and 6.8, respectively.

Ali carbon sources except the maltose enhanced the phénol dégradation by Klebsiella oxytoca with varying degrees.

Nitrogen sources being tested except glycine, urea and yeast extract are the same as carbon sources did.

oxytoca was found using the meta pathway of catechol dégradation during phénol catabolism.
