Meadows syndrome is an uncommon disease defined as a systolic heart failure during post partum, without any other cardiopathy.
Thrombo-embolic features could complicate this syndrome but seldom are revealer.
The case reported is about a 41 year-old woman, without cardiac antecedents, multiparous, who presented 3 days after delivery an acute dyspnoea.
Lung embolism was confirmed by pulmonary scintigraphy.
But the diagnosis established from clinical and echographic data was peripartum cardiomyopathy.
It favorably evolved by medical treatment with a total recuperation of systolic function was obtained after 6 months.
الملخص FRE
Le Syndrome de Meadows est une entité rare, définie par une insuffisance cardiaque systolique survenant en péripartum en l’absence d’une cardiopathie sous jacente.
Les manifestations thromboemboliques peuvent compliquer ce syndrome mais sont rarement révélatrices.
Nous rapportons le cas d’une patiente âgée de 41 ans, sans antécédents cardiaques, multipare, qui a présenté 3 jours après son accouchement, une dyspnée aigue.
L’embolie pulmonaire a été confirmée par la scintigraphie pulmonaire.
Mais le diagnostic final retenu après une analyse des données cliniques et échographiques était une cardiomyopathie du péripartum compliquée d’une embolie pulmonaire.
L’évolution sous traitement médical était favorable avec une récupération totale de la fonction systolique après six mois.
