الملخص EN

The purpose of the study was to identify the theoretical background of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) and its impact on intellectual security, and to detect the perceptions of Jazan University students regarding the threats of SNSs to the intellectual security, and whether or not there were significant differences among the participants’ perceptions due to the variables of the study.

The study depended on the descriptive research method, and used a questionnaire of (37) items to collect the data.

The sample consisted of (603) students randomly selected from Jazan colleges.

The data was analyzed using Means, Standard Deviation, One way ANOVA, & t-test.

The results indicated that students’ responses regarding the threats of SNSs to the intellectual security came at the moderate level.

The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences among students’ responses regarding the threats of SNSs to individual dimension of intellectual security due to the gender variable in favor of male students.

However; the results didn’t show any statistically significant differences regarding social dimension of intellectual security.

The results also didn’t show any statistically significant differences among students’ responses due to number of hours spent on SNSs & type of SNSs.

The study ended with a suggested proposal that may help to face the threats of SNSs to the intellectual security for university students.
