This paper is the analysis of endogenous and exogenous factors that hinder and penalize the growth of milk production in Algeria.
The first part focuses on exogenous factors, namely the territorial factors: climate, agricultural potential, water infrastructure, as well as demographic factors (demographic and urbanization).
The second part analyzes the endogenous factors arising from the operation of dairy farms, including the perimeters of Chéliff.
The data used are those available at national level for understanding the macroeconomic variables, as well as those from a survey of a sample of 146 dairy farms at the perimeters of Cheliff.
It follows that the territorial and demographic factors are unfavorable to the growth of milk production.
However, administered prices in the production and consumption has contributed significantly to the further direction from farmers to more profitable crops and decommissioning of milk production in the strategy of actors responsible for milk production.
الملخص FRE
Ce papier fait I'analyse des facteurs exogenes et endogtees qui entravent et penalisent I’essor de la production laitiere en Algerie.
La premiere partie porte sur les facteurs exogenes, en Loccurrence les facteurs territoriaux : climat, potentiel agronomique, infrastructure hydraulique, ainsi que les facteurs demographiques (demographie et urbanisation).
La deuxieme partie analyse les facteurs endogenes derivant du fonctionnement des exploitations laitieres, notamment celles des perimetres du Cheliff.
Les informations utilisees sont ceux disponible au niveau national pour I’apprehension des grandeurs macro economique, ainsi que celles issues d’une enquete realisee sur un echantillon de 146 exploitations laitieres au niveau des perimetres du Cheliff.
II en resulte que les facteurs territoriaux et demographiques sont peu favorables a I’essor de la production laitiere.
Cependant, les prix administres a la production et a la consommation ont contribue largement a Lorientation davantage des agriculteurs vers les cultures les plus remuneratrices et un declassement de la production laitiere dans la strategie des acteurs responsable de la production laitiere.
