This paper studies the I Intertextuality in poetry of Ismail Al-Hamdawi who is well known for his satirical poems such as (Tilsan ibn Harb, and Shaat Saeed) and other themes from two sides: theoretical as well as applied side.

In the theoretical part, the paper presents a brief introduction about concept of Intertextuality from western and Arabic critical perspectives and what is related with that concept in our ancient criticism.

In the applied side, the paper studies Intertextuality in poetry of Al-Hamdawi by activating religious, historical, literary as well as philosophical texts as a part of the cultural tradition which interferes with the original poetic text and its artificial and ideological function in addition to how harmonious of these intertextualities with the poetic context in terms of its shape and content.

The present paper deals with two aims which are bringing life back to this kind of poetry and mentioning the intertextualities in his poems which reflects the richness of his poetic experience.
