By the beginning of the fifties, and through the sixties of the last century, the Arab world has entered a new era that was characterised by a transformation in the public’s mentality.

The public soon realised that the military coups were not an ephemeral phenomenon as the military started laying the foundation for the new social, economic and political regimes.

This has put the military ruling regimes in a position where the reproduction of their legitimacy was necessary.

Indeed, those regimes were able to capitalise and to impact the public’s feeling through the independence cause as well as the unity cause, two priority causes for the Arab public at the time.
