The medical studies reform was implemented in Faculty of Medicine of Sousse for the academic year 2016- 2017 to better acquire skills to satisfy the needs of the population.
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the students' perception and initial needs in the first year of medical studies concerning new methods of learning.
Method: A transversal descriptive study, carried out with the newly admitted students in the first year for the year 2016-2017, during the first three days of the first week of the academic year in Sousse-Faculty of medicine.
Result: There was 135 participants, 66.7% were female, and the remainers were male.
A total of 82.2%of students indicated their agreement with active learning methods and wished to be accompanied by the teacher 69.6% of cases.
They need to be motivated in 82.2%.
In addition, 81.7% of the participants stated that formative assessment inform students about their strengths and weaknesses.
Conclusion: The student admitted in the first academic year appears to prefer the active learning, combined with motivation and formative assessment to guide his training
الملخص FRE
La réforme des études médicales est mise en oeuvre à la faculté de médecine de Sousse (FMS) depuis l’année universitaire 2016-17 pour une meilleure acquisition des compétences afin de répondre aux besoins de la population.
L’objectif de cette étude est de déterminer la perception des nouvelles méthodes d’apprentissage par les étudiants de première année des études médicales.
Méthode : Etude transversale descriptive, réalisée auprès des étudiants en première année à la FMS, présents les trois premiers jours de l’année universitaire 2016-17.
Résultats: 135 étudiants ont participé à l’étude dont 82,2% ont exprimé le besoin d’un apprentissage actif, 69,6% celui d’un accompagnement par le formateur, 82,2% celui d’une motivation et enfin 75,5% le besoin d’un environnement propice au développement.
La majorité des participants (81,7%) affirmaient que l’évaluation formative sert à renseigner l'étudiant sur ses forces et ses défaillances.
Conclusion: L’étudiant nouvellement admis est globalement en faveur des méthodes d’apprentissage actives, des moyens de collaboration, en insistant sur le besoin d’être motivé et guidé dans sa formation.
