In recent years, Algeria has been exposed to a range of natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes and human calamities, including the massacres of terrorism in different parts of the country and the recent violence in Ghardaia.

The Country has endeavored urgently to develop plans and strategies to reduce the amount of physical and psychological damage suffered by survivors of these shocking disasters.

Perhaps the emergency psychological intervention was a priority no less important than medical intervention.

It is based on providing psychological support immediately after the traumatic event according to a model approach based on helping people immediately following the disaster to reduce initial distress and enhance the adaptive performance of survivors in the short and long term till to take care of them effectively.

In this paper, we attempt to address this issue by answering the following questions: What ismeant by emergency psychological intervention? When does it happen? Who does it? Who benefits from it? What are its stages? Is there a difference between emergency intervention directed at children and emergency intervention directed at adults ?.
