Planning for a green university of Duhok campus

Adapting cities to the system of green buildings becomes of vital importance to urban planning in both developing and developed countries.

The focus of this research is to further understand the issues surrounding planning and management of green system by studying the application of this system in the University of Duhok Campus in Duhok governorate of Kurdistan, Iraq.

Through a comprehensive survey of written litreture, and interviews with relevant experts, the research reveals further understanding of how a green system could be applied locally with key planning indicators that affect the forming of an active green system in UoD Campus.

This research highlights the case study of UoD Campus to broaden the debates and concepts in green building theory and planning.

The inclusive survey reveals that all of the qualities concerning applying green building systems in UoD Campus are in low level.

The researchers concluded that the continues use of non-renewable energy without taking into consideration the approaches of Green Building will lead to a more damaged urban environment.

Recommendations were suggested for a Short-term (Action) plan and Long term plan as vital to start the application of (Green Building System) in UoD Campus for a more sustainable environment.
