Syringocystadenoma papilliferum of eye lid : a case report and review of literature in a Tertiary Eye hospital, Nigeria

A 58-year-old male with a one-year history of lower medial eyelid swelling and no other ocular and systemic abnormalities was examined.

The examination revealed a medial bluish firm left lower eyelid mass.

Subsequently, he had an in toto excisional biopsy of a cystic mass, which was confirmed histopathologically to be syringocystadenoma papilliferum.

A higher level of suspicion by the ophthalmologist and the histopathologist plays a vital role in the management of this tumour
