نماذج حوكمة الجامعات و أثرها في بناء التوجه الاستراتيجي : دراسة تطبيقية على الجامعات الخاصة في مدينة عمان

الملخص EN

The study aimed to identify governance models prevailing in the private Jordanian universities within the city of Amman and its impact in building the strategic orientation of these universities; as applied to the study of four private universities out of seven universities in the city of Amman; and these are (Petra, Al-Zaytoonah, Middle East, and Israa University) which accounted for (57%).

Data were collected from 317 of the academic and administrative staff members out of (1780) total population by means of questionnaire as the stratified random sample was used.

After testing tool validity and reliability, correlation analysis was carried out then multiple regressions were used to test hypotheses.

The results show that there is an agreement that the companies model of governance has the highest influence on the strategic orientation, while there was no effect of the academic model on the strategic orientation, these results reflect the conviction of respondents that the governance of universities has the lowest fit or match with the academic model which is limited to the views and attitudes of academics only; because governance approach focuses on the participation of all in construction and implementation.

The study made a number of recommendations; including: Increase the effectiveness of applying the model of companies in the surveyed universities through attention to the financial resources and its uses and utilization management of other resource, and stimulate effective performance of university president in the professional side for the management of resources as well as his primary role of the academic core.
