The objective of this study is to explore the relationship and influence between the strategic scanning through its dimensions (technological scanning, competitive scanning, commercial scanning, environmental scanning) and the basic elements of the competitive advantages (quality, cost, innovation, responding to customer needs).

The problem of the work was identified in several problematic questions for this purpose a model was formulated for the it, The hypotheses were subjected to a series of tests to ascertain their validity, The study adopted the questionnaire as a means of obtaining the data and used the analytical descriptive method as its methodology.It was used also to support and reinforce the concepts of its variables, The SPSS program was adopted in the extraction of results.

The study reached a set of conclusions that confirm the significance of all the correlation relationships and the influence indicated by the hypotheses of the study,It concluded the emphasis on the importance of vigilance in boosting and developing competitive advantages in small and medium industries, Accordingly, a number of proposals were presented and the most prominent one was the deepening of the awareness of the role and importance of strategic vigilance in facing the challenges of the competitive environment and its effective contribution to the development of competitive advantages through its positive impact on its essential elements.
