الملخص AR

The world is experiencing a dramatic transition from rural to urban communities in hopes of a better life.

in Egypt, like most developing countries, urban life becomes more complex than ever before.

transport and other needed infrastructure have led to declining quality of life; commuting has become even busier, parking spaces fewer than required, moreover fuel prices have soared in the last few years.

although uncommon in middle eastern culture, women have been seen riding scooters through the streets of Egypt's major cities.

the present feminist qualitative research attempts to reveal the reasons behind this curious phenomenon by asking the following question: ―is it a new trend or a real need?‖ the answer to this question is noteworthy because it can lead to improving the quality of life in urban areas by addressing the issues related to sustainable development and transport.

data were collected using online sources.

findings provide new insights into the phenomenon from a feminist perspective and recommended actions to engage women more effectively in designing and implementing solutions aimed at improving their quality of life.
