his study aims to display the role of corporate governance of banks in the prevention and the fight against money laundering phenomenon through the implementation of effective strategies, especially since the traditional methods have become insufficient to cope with the economic crimes that threaten the banking system and undermine its credibility.

Money launderers, particularly in banks set up in tax havens and on the pretext of bank secrecy, use banks to launder their illegal capital using several traditional and innovative methods based on new technology.

In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the researchers have used descriptive analytical method.

One of the most important strategies that the study has found is to apply the principle of disclosure and transparency in all banking transactions, and the independence of the internal control function, which serves as the first line of defence for the prevention of money laundering phenomenon, also the need for a compliance function in the organisational structure of the bank as the second line of defence against this phenomenon.
