This study aims at examining the role of principals in spreading environmental awareness among the students of the public secondary schools in Kasbah Irbid / Jordan.

The population was all the secondary school principals in the Directorate of Education for the Irbid, of the academic year 2017/2018.

The total study population of (189) participants was taken.

The instrument was distributed to all of them, and 163 participants returned the survey.

The researchers used the descriptive approach (survey design).

The results indicated that the role of principals in general has been an average in spreading environmental awareness.

In addition, school principals focused on developing emotional aspects and instilling a spirit of love and belonging to the environment The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to gender impact, academic qualification and years of experience in the tool as a whole.

The study recommended including the environmental concepts in the curricula.

Also, the holding workshops and courses for principals and teachers that contribute to spreading environmental awareness and introducing them to renewable sources of energy, and provide schools with material and human resources to motivate the students to protect the environment.
