The issue of intellectual property and authorship receives a great attention, not only on the state level, but also on the regional and international levels.

So, the concern of any state or scientific community with them has become a proof of keeping pace with development and modernity and a token of the civilized society.

It is in this sense that the understanding of intellectual property and authorship has become an integral part of human rights.

This research, entitled “Copyright between Sharia and Law”, highlights the comprehensiveness of Shari’a and its capacity to resolve the issues of all times, including the current time, in comparison with Federal Law No.

(7) Of 2002 regarding copyright and the related rights.

First, I have defined the term “right” and its divisions: financial and nonfinancial rights, which are, in turn, divided into three types: personal, inkind and mental rights.

As for this research, it is concerned with the third type, including innovation in authorship and classification, which involves two rights: literary and financial rights, both of which are stipulated in Islamic Sharia and clarified in the Emirati Law.

The distinction between them has several characteristics, whose impact can be seen in a number of provisions regarding mental innovations in general and classifications in particular
