Comparison of growth and yield characteristics of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)‎ varieties under greenhouse conditions

An experiment was conducted at tomato researches project in Galybia, Diyala province, Iraq during 2015-2016.

Experiment consisted of four varieties, viz.

Magda, Newton, GS12 and Defnis using Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications.

Tallest plant 196.6 cm, maximum root length 21.8 cm, maximum fruits weight 273.3 g and maximum total fruits weight 1670.3 g were found in Magda variety, maximum number of branches, leaves, clusters and fruits 38.1, 403.6, 11.4 and 37.5 respectively were found in GS12 variety while maximum shoot and root weight 753.9, 35.6 g, respectively and minimum infection in early blight disease 4.6 % were found in Defnis variety , Newton variety was susceptible to infection by virus of tomato yellow leave curl 21.6 % whereas other varieties were tolerant to infection in this disease.
