The relationship between religious and political fields has long been strained by the desire of each party to seize power and dominate societies.

For this purpose, this study seeks to shed light on the problem resulting in this conflict through the general literature and the historical novel in particular.

We chose the novel Samarkand (1988) by the Franco-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf, through which he painted a general picture full of details for nearly ten centuries of the history of an area that is one of the busiest and full of politico-religious wars.

In this paper, we have dealt with some aspects of the eternal animosity between these two fields and the mechanisms of their respective endeavors in pursuit of the purpose of imposing their control and logic on the lives of individuals.
