الملخص EN

Due to new educational reforms and frameworks being influenced by the growing role of ICT internationally, pressures have been created on educational system.

Despite of enormous support given to use the Learning management system (LMS) in blended and online learning, the academic staff usage of online course assessment features such as open discussion forum and electronic assessment is still limited.

there is a requirement for a more engaged and malleable educational context through web-based tools.

the ability of such features in making the learning environment more flexible and interactive is needed.

therefore, this research attempts to apply theory of planned behavior (TPB) to investigate in depth academic staffs’ intention toward using e-assessment as evaluation tool in online courses.

as a means of responding to the problem, a quantitative research method was adopted through web based survey.

the questionnaire was distributed to 154 academic staff using blackboard system in order to ensure that the academic staff is currently using online courses.

the results indicated that the theory of planned behavior (TPB) was applicable to measure the academic staff intention towards using e-assessment as evaluation tool in online courses.

the main constructs of theory of planned behavior (TPB) namely attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavior control was significant predictors of the academic intention in using online assessment tools.

extended TPB to including the main constructs of technology acceptance model (tam) namely; perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness was significantly contributed.

the results indicated that the most construct was contributed towards academic intention was perceived usefulness (PU) followed by perceived behavioural control (PBC) and subjective norms (SN).

the proposed model accounted 72.2 % of total variance of the academic staff intention to use eassessment.

therefore, several suggestions and recommendations were proposed.
