The study aims to identify problems faced students with special needs at princess nora university, problems related to services provided by the university and to the educational process.

it also aims to identify the role of the social worker with students with special needs from the point of view of the students themselves and to suggested proposal of social service through social empowerment approach dealing with that category.

it is a descriptive study that uses a comprehensive social survey for all students with special needs, who number 84, and a questionnaire to collect data.

among key results regarding university services are the lack of restaurants, the lack of training programs and neglect in linking students to the labor market.

in the educational process the key problems are difficulties in registration, course deletion and addition, the unsuitability of the study plan to the students> conditions, and poor awareness by faculty members of the appropriate manner in dealing with those students.

the results also showed an appreciation by the students of the clear role played by social workers with that student group.

the study has suggested proposal for the role of social work with students with special needs through social empowerment approach.
