The study focuses on the cultural heritage in Mohammed Alwan's four stories collection namely, Bread and Silence, The Story begins Like This, Damisa, and Telephone), by explaining its patterns, methods of its functioning, and the implications of that functioning.

The writer used a variety of cultural legacy represented in animal stories and their existence, the World of Jinn, the Myth, the Tale, the Poetry.

He dealt with this in three levels identified by the study which are: popular poetry, the standard Arabic poetry, narrative poetry (poetize the narration).

The study focuses on functioning the narrative story, customs and popular tradition.

Intertextuality was present along with the Quran stories through rendering its phrases, its distinctive words through the action or the character.

Alwan has employed the cultural legacy, enriching its narrative text, having a lot of implications identified in this study by the descriptive analysis approach.
