الملخص العربي

The study aimed to identify the role of the Accountability Unit in the Ministry of Education in Jordan with improving the performance of the principals of public schools in Jerash governorate from their point of view.

The study society was composed of all principals of public schools for the academic year ( 2018/2019 ) in Jerash governorate.

A simple random sample of ( 144 ) managers from the study society was selected.

The results of the study showed that the role of the Accountability Unit in the development of the administrative performance of the school principals was medium.

There were significant differences at the level of ( α ≤ 0.05 ) due to gender and the school stage in all fields, the benefit is for females and secondary school.

And to the visit of the Accountability Unit to schools in fields, education and learning, the student environment, the school and the community, and in total score.

The benefit is to schools which had been visited.

And there weren't significant differences at the level of ( α ≤ 0.05 ) due to the variable years of management experience in all fields.

And the visit of the Accountability Unit to schools in field, leadership and management.

According to the results of the study, a set of recommendations were presented, the most important of which is : The need to clarify the standards of educational accountability for all parties in the educational process, so that they are clear, transparent and understandable to the principals of schools and teachers.
