This research deals with the economic importance of the city of Tabriz during the Safavid reign.

The research gives a geographical glance of the city; location, climate and surface structure to show the impact of these factors on the trade activity of the region.

It wasn’t a holy spot and it never had a religious importance.

However, the economic activities did flourish very clearly.

It was a trade center for all goods and silk in particular.

This product represented the main and the most profitable material in the trade activity with many countries.

The markets of Tabriz were full of wool clothes, fabric and carpets.

The merchants export them not only inside the country but also to Russia, India, China and Europe.

Light has also been focused on the classification of the crafts and industries depending on the criteria set by the funders and the nature of the materials used.

The research also tries to observe the development of the crafts and industries.
