This research paper aims to provide an overview on information and communication technology (ICT) and the sustainable development.

In addition, it tries to evaluate the reality of information and communication technology in Algerian, and its contribution in achieving sustainable development dimensions.

Through opening up promising prospects for sustainability and development in this sector.

Which will develop strategies and seek to set procedures and measures to activate the information society in Algeria.

The finding of the study revealed that despite of country’s efforts in developing and mainstreaming ICTs, it is still unable to keep up with global developments.

It needs large investments by both government and private sector.

Thus, it is expected that any increase in expenditure on this sector will lead to an increase in GDP growth and improve the public service in various fields such as health, education, trade … etc resulting in sustainable development.
