After the revolution of 14 January 2011, Tunisia witnessed the emergence of radical Salafist currents.

This coincided with the loosening of the grip of the security services, thus enabling the Tunisian revolution to give a historic opportunity for terrorist groups to organize and mobilize their supporters.

The Tunisian economy in particular hit tourism.

Terrorist and extremist groups pose a continuing threat to the security and peace of Tunisian society and the state, which must be tackled comprehensively through the adoption of a national strategy, comprehensive and effective, in the northern, central and western states bordering Libya.

The Tunisian government has developed a strategy to combat terrorism through the development of approaches that depend on the treatment of the terrorist phenomenon and on the other hand the prevention of it, considering that the security sector in Tunisia Vulnerable to conflict requires support involving military and intelligence equipment.
