Abstract The aim of this research is recognizing the teaching method based on cooperative learning, which is considered as one of the strategies adopted nowadays in our educational system and which must be used within our school classrooms , regarding its positive effect on the learners.

Therefore, we look forward, in this research, to study this strategy and the related details.

First, we mention its historical features , then we study some definitions related to this strategy , further we gallop to the main characteristics of this teaching method and the role of both the teacher and the learner when dealing with it.

We will proceed also, to show success conditions of cooperative learning as well as obstacles that may prevent the good use of this strategy especially within our school classrooms.
