In this paper the effects of low temperature nitrogen plasma on surface properties of PS-Cu nanocomposite films have been investigated.

The untreated and plasma treated surface was characterized by contact angle, SFE, FTIK, and UV-VIS analysis.

The plasma-etching effect was estimated by measuring the weight of the sample before and after the plasma treatment.

The results show that the surface hydrophilicity has been improved due to the increase in the roughness and the introduction of oxygen-containing polar groups as corroborated with FTIK spectra and weight loss calculations.

It was found that the nitrogen plasma treatment increases the polar component of PS-Cu films.

The optical energy gap changed from 4.102 to 3.993 eV due to DC N2 plasma treatment.
