In most modern healthcare institutions, risk management becomes an important tool in protecting health care providers, as well as complying with regulations.

It helps to focus on the risks that really matter in the workplace – the ones with the potential to cause real harm.

In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks. Aim of the current study was to assess the management of health and safety risks among governmental hospitals in the Gaza Strip. The study was descriptive analytical cross-sectional design to investigate the management of health and safety risks at governmental hospitals in the Gaza Strip (Alshifa Medical Complex, Nasser Medical Complex, and Gaza European Hospital).

The target population of this study was senior managers of the health care providers (nurses and physicians) who are working at the mentioned healthcare centers.

The total number of respondents was 217 out of 250 (127 nurses and 90 physicians), that the response rate was reac 86.8%.

A structured self-reported questionnaire was distributed to all senior managers' health care provider's (physicians and nurses) who illegible to the study criteria. One key result of the study was that the participants agree about Risk Mangmment with relative mean 60.3%.

The weight mean for risk communication was found to be 62.12%, and the mean for risk identification was about 60.80%, while the weight for risk control lied by 60.69%, the relative weight for risk assessment was equal to 60.02%, and the relative weight for risk analysis was about 57.78%.

There are statistical differences between management of health and safety risks and gender, workplace, work experience, and job description.

There are no statistical differences between management of health and safety risks and age, marital status, educational level and job title. The study recommended establishing a department that is specialized in the management of health and safety risks.

To conduct a periodic survey of the internal and external work environment to detect risks as early as possible and to take measures to address it.

Also, allocate a special budget for risk management to provide all needed materials, offer human power, and organize workshops to raise awareness among all involved parties.
